frequently asked

What makes gel wax different from regular candle wax?

Gel wax is a crystal-clear, medium-density gel — not an opaque wax like soy or paraffin. It stays translucent when set, so it shows off anything you suspend inside it: glass gems, shells, colour and decorative details. Add a touch of dye for a jewel-like, stained-glass glow.

What can I make with it?

This is the fun one. Gel wax is made for statement, decorative candles — underwater scenes, cocktail candles, beer candles and other embed-led designs. Pour it into heat-safe glassware so the clarity does the talking, and enjoy a clean, long-lasting burn.

How much fragrance can it hold?

Keep fragrance to a maximum of 5%, and only use high-flashpoint fragrance oils. Low-flashpoint oils can cloud the gel or become a fire risk at gel's higher working temperatures. Add fragrance just before pouring and stir gently to avoid trapping bubbles.

Can I add embeds and decorations?

Absolutely — embeds are what gel wax does best. Use non-flammable, flame-resistant decorations only (glass gems, shells, and pieces rated for candle use) and keep them clear of the wick and flame path. Warm your embeds slightly before pouring to reduce bubbles clinging to them.

What temperature do I heat and pour at?

Heat the gel to around 110 °C to fully liquefy it, then pour at a minimum of 85 °C — gel sets quickly, so work steadily. Never leave heating gel unattended, and use a thermometer: gel runs hotter than soy or paraffin. Expect roughly 1.25 L of poured volume per kilo.

What are the bulk price breaks?

The more you make, the more you save — our gel steps down in price as you scale, from $24.50/kg at 1kg to $12.30/kg at 75kg. Need a custom quote for larger volumes? Just give us a shout for anything over 350kg.

How does it ship?

Your gel ships in sealed packaging via Direct Freight Express or Australia Post depending on weight, with live shipping rates calculated at checkout so you only ever pay what it actually costs to get to your door. If anything ever arrives unhappy, tell us and we'll sort it.
