Coconut & Soy Smooth Tops Strong Throw

Our Simply CocoSoy Wax has had a glow-up!

We have reformulated our best-loved blend to sharpen the three things: a wider, more forgiving pour, a hardier set that copes better with tricky conditions, and an even smoother finish (gorgeous on the first pour and every reset after).

It is still the premium coconut soy blend trusted by Australian candle makers for smooth tops, superior fragrance throw and reliable results every pour. Just better in your hands.

frequently asked

What actually is Simply Cocosoy?

Cocosoy is a match made in candle heaven: a blend of natural, plant-based waxes, primarily coconut and soy, sometimes with a little something extra (other plant waxes) to firm things up and improve the burn. Coconut brings the luxe, creamy good looks and a knockout scent throw, soy brings the structure and a clean burn. Best of both worlds, no paraffin in sight.

Is it natural, vegan, and "clean"?

Yes, yes, and yes. It is plant-based, 100% vegan with zero animal-derived anything, and completely paraffin-free, so it is a lovely “clean” pick for makers selling to the health-conscious crowd.

How much fragrance can it hold?

Cocosoy usually performs best around 8 to 10% fragrance. Resist the urge to drown it though: too much and you risk sweating, a poor burn, or fragrance pooling. Start around 8%, cure it properly, and let your testing have the final say.

What wick should I pair with it?

Natural-fibre wicks are its best mate, and our ECO wicks are a cracking match: the coreless cotton-and-paper build gives this creamy wax a clean, steady flame and a lovely even melt pool.

A few rules of thumb:

  • Match the wick to your jar diameter, then test from there.
  • Cocosoy runs a wider melt pool than soy, so you may need to size down a wick compared to your usual soy setup.
  • Cocosoy can occasionally show a slight ‘hang-up’ on the first burn, where a thin ring of wax remains at the edge. This is normal for softer, coconut-rich blends and typically resolves by the second or third burn as the candle establishes its melt pool.
  • Too big and you will get mushrooming or soot. Too small and you get a sad, drowning flame and a half-melted pool.
  • Always test in your exact jar, wax, fragrance, and load combo. Oils and colour can throw a curveball at how a wick behaves.

Wicking is the one step you really cannot skip the testing on. Grab a couple of sizes either side of your best guess and burn them side by side.

How long does it need to cure?

Good things come to those who wait, and cocosoy is no exception. Give it 3 to 5 days minimum, but 1 to 2 weeks is the real sweet spot for the best throw. Curing lets the fragrance settle in and bind through the wax. Let your candles cool uncovered after pouring (this keeps condensation off the surface), then cover them and tuck them somewhere cool and dark to lock the scent in. Label them with the pour date so they do not become a mystery, and step away from the lighter. Future you will be very grateful.

1st time using cocosoy wax as wanted something eco-friendly and it has great scent throw on the melts I made. 1st batch was great, 2nd and 3rd batch temps in the house bit cooler so they set with a few cracks so still getting used to the best way to use this wax but will be buying again.
