Diffusers are the perfect way to continually release beautiful fragrances into your space. Unlike candles, you don’t have to light them or use soy wax, and they are quite easy to make. This is perfect if you live in an apartment that doesn’t allow candles but still want that delightful smell.
What You'll Need
- Diffuser containers
- Pouring Jug
- Diffuser Base Oil
- Fragrance Oil
- Diffuser Reeds (if using reed containers)
- Stirring utensil
- Funnel (if small container being used like the hanging diffusers)
Step 1: Select your diffuser container.
Home diffusers naturally release the fragrance. We provide a range of containers you can use from hanging diffusers, timber top diffusers and reed diffusers. With your reed home diffusers, you also need to select the collar which provides that perfect finishing touch of elegance.
Step 2: Work out how much fragrance you need.
Now you’ve selected your containers, you can work out how much fragrance and diffuser base oil you’ll need. The ratio is 25% fragrance oil and 75% diffuser base oil. An example is if you have 2 x 100ml diffuser containers, you’ll need 50ml of fragrance and 150ml of diffuser base oil.
Step 3: Choose your fragrance.
We now have nearly 200 Australian made fragrance oils which are perfect for diffusers, candles and bath products. All the fragrances have a gorgeous smell and will delight your senses. Look at the characteristics of the fragrance oil to get an idea of how it’ll smell. Once you’ve chosen your fragrance, make sure you also purchase the correct amount of diffuser base oil. Without it, your fragrances will evaporate before you can truly enjoy them.
Step 4: Select your diffuser reed.
This is only needed if you’ve selected a reed diffuser. We provide a range of fabric diffuser reeds which means you don’t have to flip them over every three months (unlike bamboo reeds) and you can trim them to the size you want.
Step 5: Put it all together.
You’ll firstly want to blend your fragrance and diffuser base oil in a pouring jug. Once you know the total amount of liquid you require, multiply that 0.75 to give you the millimetres of diffuser base oil you need. Multiple the total amount of liquid required by 0.25 to give you the amount of fragrance you require. Mix this together. Using a funnel, slowly pour the fragrance blend into your containers. Seal with the bung until you are ready to use them.
Diffusers make great gifts, are easy to make and can brighten any room. You can get creative with the containers you use, the fragrances and can even purchase gift boxes for them too.
