When purchasing soy wax, fragrance oils and candle wicks, you'll often see the phrase 'testing recommended'. Testing is important because you want to achieve your desired results, and even if you follow the manufacturers recommendations exactly, you might get different results. Why does this happen?
"One big impact that gives different results is the environment you are working in"
One big impact that gives different results is the environment you are working in. When making your candles, the humidity, temperature and lighting can all affect the outcomes. This would mainly affect your pouring temperatures of your candle wax. The other thing it could affect is the temperature difference between your containers and the wax. If working with clear containers, a bigger temperature difference between your jars and melted soy wax could cause it to pull away more from the candle jar.
The other major thing that can change the outcomes is any extras you’ve added to your wax. Additives and colouring tend to change the makeup of your candle wax. You might have to select the next wick size up as it could change the burning diameter or alter the ratio of fragrance you are using so that it isn’t stunted. We can’t tell you how much to add or not as this is why testing is important.
